This composition was painted plein air early in the morning around 6 a.m. at two sittings. I had painted this Yucca one year prior and was amazed at the change in the plant. The morning was bright, and clear and cool.
The use of oil paints is my preference, and generally I paint with a somewhat impressionist style, with a leaning toward realism. I enjoy color, glazes, layering and occasionally the use of palette knife. I have studied art and oil painting in California, Montana, Oregon, Colorado and Wyoming. I attended the University of Wyoming and worked toward a BFA in art. My art subjects which I lean toward are the western way of life and western situations. My interest in art must have started very early in life. I was a little city girl who moved to a farm. The farm animals were a part of everyday and ranged from the wild to the tame.
